Who We Help

FoodBank Lakeside came to be in 2020 in order to temporarily provide basic food assistance to those families who lost their livelihoods due to Covid.  We focused our attention on Ajijic, San Antonio and Chapala as no organized food programs existed there.  In the course of our work we discovered those among our neighbors who were referenced in the statistics:  the chronically ill, the disabled, the elderly and those who had lost their breadwinners.  We screened and began to distribute on a monthly basis basic pantry items to the chronically malnourished, including a group of families in San Pedro who suffer advanced kidney disease.

In 2021, we began providing food for the  Kids Kitchens that  Poco a Poco San Pedro Itzican was establishing in the indigenous villages to the east, where the prevalence of kidney disease is among the highest in the world.
