What does becoming a volunteer for FoodBank Lakeside look like? What will it mean to you?

Depending on your skills and interests, volunteering can take many different forms.  You might deliver despensas or meals to people clearly in need.  Or you might help out in a less direct but just as critical function – like writing newsletter articles, or planning events, or picking up donations, or doing research, or helping partner with other organizations and individuals for mutual support.
But for all of us who volunteer for FoodBank Lakeside, it means fulfillment and gratitude.  Fulfillment from serving the community we love, gratitude for the opportunity to give back some of what we’ve all been lucky enough to receive in      our lives.
It also means being a part of one of the most respected teams in the Ajijic/Chapala area. Since FoodBank Lakeside started in the spring of 2020, it has been one of the most successful charities at Lakeside – and thus one of the most rewarding to be a part of. Won’t you join us? You won’t regret it!

Whatever else a person may care about—

health, education, the environment, or our economy—

it is all tied to hunger.”

Volunteer Values
FoodBank Lakeside came together in a time of uncertainty to reach out together and help our neighbors in need.  In so doing, we formed a network of teams with the following hopes, anticipations, and expectations:
  •  To represent FBL with integrity and humility to the community at large
  •  To make our “families in need” and our donors our highest priority
  •  To be enthusiastic, gracious, open-minded, and respectful
  •  To believe in one another and act accordingly
  •  To be attentive when others are speaking
  •  To say what we do and do what we say
  •  To be on time and be prepared
  •  To be clear about what we say and expect from one another
  •  To take responsibility and perform accordingly
  •  To know our limits and be okay to ask for help
  •  To coach and mentor others to achieve the performance we desire
